The sequel to Ink Witch. War has broken out among the immortals. It's time to choose a side.
Kat Dubois never asked to be the emissary for the good guys. Diplomacy isn't her strong suit, and patience isn't one of her personal virtues. But when a millennia-old god asks you to do a job to further the war cause, you do that job...especially when you're the opposition's most wanted.
Kat's mission is complicated when a mysterious disease crops up among Seattle's homeless population. It's up to her to find a cure while the infection is contained, and to do that, she must go straight to the source - Ouroboros. It's been a week since Kat promised to come after the twisted corporation; the time has come for her to fulfill that promise.

This is a decent enough story but I will not be continuing the series. The writing is good. The character is interesting. I just have a problem with the heroine having a breakdown every other chapter.
I like my heroines to be not only amazing fighters but strong independent women. Yes I LOVE a multidimensional character who does have a vulnerable side as well as the tough exterior. However Kat (whose name I completely forgot) seems to have a breakdown everytime she kills someone that needs killing, or breakdown because she didn't kill but tortured them. I don't know. It just seems as if the author is setting up these breakdowns specifically to have her "connect" with a male character and honestly its just repetitive and makes me roll my eyes at the heroine.
I would be interested to read more of the authors work when she's more seasoned but I don't think I'll be continuing on with this series.

Outcast Kat Dubois Chronicles Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Lindsey Fairleigh Julia Whelan Books Reviews
This is another great episode in Kat's story. I was surprised in a good way to learn that her story continues for at least one more episode. This has been a truly great reading experience.
Kat just gets better i love her character and Nik and all my other favourites our minds are such wonderful things when it come to seeing the charters in our imagination
Kat is running out of time.. The world could be at a huge crisis.. Can she find the answers she needs? Who will be behind her? Who are her friends? What is really going on?
This is a really interesting series. The concepts and characters are interesting if not a little scary. Intrigue, battles and a little romance round out the story. Looking forward to the next book!
"Outcast", Book 2 of the Kat Dubois Chronicles, continues the complicated and suspenseful story of Kat Dubois life as an outcast, not allowing herself to be vulnerable by trying to avoid personal relationships because there is just too much pain when anyone gets too close. In addition to trying to solve a mystery about missing homeless children, she is tasked with discovering a cure for a mysterious disease among the homeless population in Seattle, and discovers that the disappearances and the disease are linked. When Kat lets her guard down, a steamy romance results with all sorts of complications that just reinforces her feelings of vulnerability and loss. This novel is fast paced, suspenseful, complex and full of surprises! I can't wait to read the sequel "Underground" to continue this adventure with Kat Dubois!
I read this book so fast! It had a lot of really interesting scenes in a number of locations around Seattle. I felt like I could picture myself there. There was a very fun fight scene that made me wish that this book could be made into a series on HBO. Kat is a powerful and sexy woman who is starting to realize that she can change herself and maybe the world. I highly recommend this book if you want an easy and quick read; the only down side, like all good series, is that you have to wait for the next one to come out)
The 2nd book in the Kat Dubois chronicles continues as Kat use her abilities of the tarot cards predicting up-coming events, able to draw with her ink pens and create gateways to Heru's house, the Tent City, etc. There is a evil corporation called Ouroboros....doing strange experiments on immortals and there is a mysterious virus that is affecting only the humans and ending in death. Will Kat find out how to stop this virus?? And will there be a relationship with Garth, a detective helping her. There is Dom her half-brother who is surviving as his Ba is floating in a mirror pendant that Kat wears and is able to talk and hear Dom.....Will Heru's clan ever accept Kat Dubois back??? Interesting reading, enjoyed it tremendously.
This is a decent enough story but I will not be continuing the series.
